Prof. Jagoda Jorga, MD, PhD – a hygiene specialist, a subspecialist in dietotherapy, a doctor of medical science in obesity and a retired full professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade – has a decades-long experience in treating diseases related to  improper nutrition, regardless of the fact whether a nutrition therapy is primary for treating a disease or it is a measure accompanying other forms of treatment. She is one of the leading experts in the areas such as:

  • Obesity
  • Metabolic Syndrome
  • Malnutrition/Thinness
  • Eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, eating disorder not otherwise specified, night eating, “binge” eating, etc.)
  • Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) in the preparation of and following  major surgeries, including bariatric surgery to manage obesity
  • MNT for treating reproductive health disorders  (PCOS, gestational diabetes, etc.)
  • Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) as an accompanying measure in the treatment of diseases in oncology, nephrology, cardiology, endocrinology, rheumatic and other chronic disorders in cooperation with other specialists.

Professional biography:

After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade, she worked as a physician in several health institutions in Mladenovac, Belgrade, Poreč.

In 1983 she started her university career, during which she worked in different positions at the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade all the way to 2017, when she retired bearing the title of full professor.

She has published over 200 scientific papers, is an editor of the coursebook entitled Hygiene for Medical Students and a co-author  of several books for postgraduate studies.

All that time, she also worked at the Dietetics Counselling Centre with patients who required nutrition therapy as a primary medical measure or as a part of treatment upon the request from other specialists. After leaving the faculty, she has continued this work in private health institutions.
