Prim. DRAGAN MIĆIĆ, MD is a specialist in childhood diseases. The majority of his career has been with The Department of Hematology and Oncology, Mother and Child Health Care Institute of Serbia “Dr. Vukan Čupić” in New Belgrade. For many years he was Head of the Hematology unit and Head of the Haemophilia Cabinet.

Prim. Dragan Mićić, MD has extensive clinical experience in the fields of pediatric hematology and congenital hemostatic disorders in children. He is a renowned expert in diagnostics and treatment of: nonmalignant hematology (anemia, thrombocytopenia, congenital and acquired bone marrow failure), malignant hematology (acute and chronic leukemia in children), as well as congenital blood clotting disorders.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Having graduated and completed mandatory internship, he worked at the primary care pediatrics department of the Healthcare Center Subotica.

Since 1995 in full employment at the department for hematology and oncology research and treatment at the Mother and Child Health Care Institute of Serbia “Dr. Vukan Čupić” in Belgrade, working on research and treatment of pediatric leukemias, lymphomas and other malignancies, blood clotting disorders, anemias, thrombocytopenias and other nonmalignant hematologic disorders.

Since November 2002 a participant in the international protocol ALLIC – BFM 2002 for treatment of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia in the capacity of the protocol vice-coordinator for Serbia.

Since 2003 the vice-president of the national group for treatment of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Since November 2004 the Head of the Institute Hematology unit.

Since 2004, being an active member of the Serbian Haemophilia Society, participated in organizing the First Summer Camp for Hemophiliac Children, as well as in the following years, until 2019. Provided medical care for all participants for the duration of each summer camp.

In late October 2006 participated in the organization and realization of the physiatrics workshop for medical doctors and physiotherapists concerning the care of hemophilia patients.

From May 2007 until May 2011 served as the president of the intersectional board of pediatric hematology of the Serbian Medical Society.

Since April 2010 participated in the international randomized study ALLIC-BFM 2009 for treatment of pediatric non-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia, in the capacity of protocol vice-coordinator for Serbia within the International BFM Study Group.

From 2010 until 2024 participated in the capacities of co-investigator and principal investigator in numerous clinical studies researching hemophilia treatment medications.

November 2010 founder and member of the Serbian Medical Doctor Hemophilia Group.

During 2011 and 2012 actively participated in the realization of the project backed by Novo Nordisk Hemophilia Foundation entitled: “Advancement of hemophilia treatment in Serbia through coordinated comprehensive approach”.

From 2016 deputy head of the pediatric clinic at the Mother and Child Health Care Institute of Serbia, until retirement in 2024.

From 2018 chairman of the Mother and Child Health Care Institute of Serbia expert council, until retirement in 2024.

Member of various advisory boards at the Mother and Child Health Care Institute of Serbia, its Ethics Committee as well as its Professional Work Quality Improvement Commission.

From 2016 member of the State Expert Commission for Hemophilia until its dissolution in 2022.

SCIENTIFIC EXPERT WORK

Prim. Mićić, MD authored and co-authored 42 scientific expert papers. The analysis of his published papers as well as his entire expert and scientific career shows a wealth of clinical experience and broad interests in the fields of pediatric hematology and pediatrics.
